More Information

You have got your Sailing Licence and want to sail smoother and faster?

.Kites like Gennaker, Blister, Spinnaker and Code 0 are different Sails for different wind angles and wind strengths. This Race Boat Training focuses initially on the differences between the various sails and basic handling and a lot of sail trim. Especially on the Upwind Sailing during the Race Boat Training is a lot around Headsail and Mainsail Trimm. It is not yet about fine tuning in all Areas and perfect manoeuvres, but about getting the various sails up and down safely. By the end of the 3 days, it should be clear when which sail makes sense and how different Kites are attached, set and trimmed.

When you next sail your own trip as a skipper, hopefully you will have an additional sail on board and will set it as often as possible.

To participate in the Race Boat Training on „Petit Chasseur“ Archambault M 34, I require good sailing skills. A sailing licence is not necessary, but you should have sailed approximately 500 nautical miles, e.g. on the Atlantic or Med. Miles sailed on small keelboats under 9 metres with tiller steering or dinghies are welcome and count double. 🙂 🙂 🙂 Previous Race Boat training or similar sailing courses or training are also helpful.

We sail with a sporty 10-metre boat, which requires a certain degree of athleticism and physical fitness from the crew. We are on board for about 7 hours a day and also sail in rain, calm or strong winds, weather permitting.

Of course, we can’t just sail downwind, so upwind trimming is also included in the Race Boat Training. Thanks to the modern electronics on board, it is always possible to monitor performance closely.

The various sails from One Palma on board are rarely found in a sailing school or on a charter yacht. Whether you want to sail the gennaker on a Racing boat or set the Code 0 while cruising, it doesn’t matter, as I can always explain the differences as far as possible.

Sailing Instructor with passion

Sailing has been a part of my life since childhood.

I started sailing in an Optimist dinghy as a child. My parents had a Dinghy on Lake Bad Zwischenahn, in the North-Westerly Part of Germany where I grow up, so it wasn’t far to go. I stuck with it, first with my own Laser and then for many years with the modern two-person Flying Dutchman dinghy. That was my start in the regatta scene, all the way up to the German championships. But that was only the beginning of my sailing career in the 1980s. In the 90s, I competed in European and world championships with the Sprinta Sport from Dehler and a Jeannau Fun.

At the end of the 90s, I made a career change and moved to Mallorca… Why? Because after my first visit, I realised that people sail there all year round. Add to that the light, the atmosphere, the temperatures, and my goal was to live and work there.
I got my first full-time job as a sailing instructor at a sailing school in the north of Mallorca, as I was pretty good at sailing… Gradually, I also learned how to teach, which was really nice. Over the course of a week, I see how the participants in my course learn to master the boat and perform manoeuvres more confidently and quickly. They learn something new every day and put my tips into practice. Many sailors have come to me to learn how to sail in regattas. They have accompanied me through several training sessions to regatta sailing and had at least as much fun as I did.

When sailing, we never stop learning. It is always a new challenge to sail from A to B with the wind and waves. Especially in regatta sailing, in direct comparison with other crews on the water. After many training sessions, experiencing perfect manoeuvres with the gennaker is the reward for my work on the water. The better the training, the sooner this special moment comes. When the coordination in the team is running smoothly and everyone knows what to do and when, it is simply indescribably beautiful. This is real team sport, sailing, pure and intense sailing. Contact Otherwise, there isn’t much more to say about me. I was born in 1967, completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman, served in the navy, caught up on my A-levels and studied a little.

It’s not necessarily a straight, determined path, but rather a cross course like sailing. I only really got going in Mallorca. There were a few twists and turns here too, but the tactics were pretty clear. I owe that to my helmswoman Brigitte, who always guided me into the fairway, for which I am eternally grateful. We live in a small house outside Pollensa in the north of Mallorca. The island has been my home for 25 years and will certainly always remain so. It’s the perfect place to work in water sports and, above all, to have a job that is also a lot of fun.

People say that I am very patient, that I have turned my hobby into my profession, that I have emigrated. But „goodbye Germany“ doesn’t quite fit, as I travel a lot to different training locations. I really enjoy being at Lake Constance, but other places have their charms too. Who knows where the journey will take me? Whether on the water or on land, staying active keeps you young and healthy.

I hope to see you soon at the Race Boat Training in Mallorca
